At just 2 months of age little Wilbur was surrendered to an ER on the brink of death. His fight to gasp for air through having pneumonia and horrible BOAS caused him to develop a hiatal hernia and sepsis. He's very lucky to be alive today, and has grown to be such a happy and loving little boy.
We are looking for a perfect home for little Wilbur. One that is experienced in frenchie care and needs and is financially capable of providing for his future medical needs without hesitation. Just as important is having a friendly and welcoming dog in the home for some healthy socialization which he so needs and craves. Little man is a puppy, he's learning how to use his mouth, the ropes of potty training, and just simply how to be a dog. His family should be prepared for all things puppy chaos, providing enrichment, and ALWAYS training and guiding him with gentleness and compassion. NEVER punishment of any kind. For all these reasons it's best Wilbur go to a home without young children and a home with a yard vs an apartment.
His forever family MUST be prepared for both financially and emotionally for:
? Allergies - Regular baths, specialized food, and eventually even meds are going to be so crucial.
? BOAS surgery - his breathing almost cost his life, but he's too young for the surgery. However, it IS necessary when he's old enough and his adopters will be responsible for having this done - no flexibility.
? Pneumonia - he has a higher risk of pneumonia. He needs a diligent family who will not hesitate to get him vet care the moment there's a concern.
? Stomach issues - His gut had been through hell already. As a breed who commonly has stomach issues, he will need extra precautions.
This is a short list, but we strongly want to emphasize, Wilbur is at HIGH risk for all things frenchie due to his unethical breeding. IVDD, chronic ear and skin infections, eye issues, heat sensitivity, neurological issues, ECT.
