You will always know exactly what sort of mood Roux is in. She has the resting bully face perfected, as well as puppydog eyes that will make you give her everything you own. Every time her foster family looks in her direction, they have to laugh at whatever ridiculous expression is on her funny little face. Roux loves to play and chew on toys. Benebones, nylabones, yak chews, bully sticks...she can never have enough! Roux also likes to play with other dogs who want to roughhouse and wrestle with her. She certainly doesn't know she's a little gal when it comes to romping with other pups! Roux is still working on tackling some residual puppy behaviors that she never got a chance to before coming to ABR. We hope her forever family will keep using positive training techniques to encourage calm greetings and being patient when she wants attention. While she is still mastering these things, we'd prefer she go to a home with kids 10+.
Roux has a medical condition called Spina Bifida that causes her to be fecal incontinent. She will need regular cleaning/grooming to ensure those areas do not become infected and a little extra fiber and supplements in her diet to keep her healthy. She will also need to wear diapers/pants. Luckily, she's a great sport about all of this!
Roux is available for adoption to qualified adopters in the contiguous 48 states. ABR would prefer approved applicants to come to TX to meet their match, with their family and dog(s), but we recognized this isn’t always possible. In such cases, approved adopters should be willing to participate in video interviews with the entire family to meet their match virtually. Adopters must also provide a transportation plan for their new family member that will require approval from the ABR Board. This needs to be paid for by the adopter, in addition to the dog’s adoption fee. Adopters need to also be prepared arrange safe transport back to the Austin area, should adoption not work out. Please be prepared to provide vet and personal references in your application for us to contact when considering your family.
