Poppy

Poppy came to us in August of 2019. She was purchased from a breeder and was at the time thought to be very ill as she was unable to control her bladder/bowels. When a family who tried to help Poppy's original owner care for her realized they were in over their heads, they contacted us at ABR to step in to save this angel. Poppy has what is called Hemivertebrae (aka Butterfly Spine), which is a spinal abnormality that causes paralysis, incontinence, and even horrific pain. At the moment Poppy is still young, but she is approaching the age where we will know more about her chances of paralysis, but what we DO know is that she will be a forever diaper puppy, meaning she will need a special family who is willing and able to care for her every 3/4 hours to keep her clean and happy. Poppy also needs surgery for her little eyes, and to be spayed, but otherwise Poppy is a beautiful, energetic and loving little girl. She is the epitome of "monkey" and grabs on to you like a sweet baby who doesn't want to let go.
