We were smitten from the second we saw Petal! She's an itty bitty, lilac girl whose tongue always hangs out of the side of her mouth, which makes it extra special when she's able to land a kiss on you. She's been so sweet and tolerant of her fosters and vets helping her heal, and is the best girl for bath time. When Petal arrived at ABR, she was very very sick. She needed emergency surgery to save her life, after we discovered a severe case of pyometra. It's clear she'd spent life, until now, used and overbred without much care for her health. After surgery, Petal was a totally different dog! She became perky, playful, and full of personality! She started playing with her Frenchie foster sibling, chasing bugs, and began to love walks around the neighborhood to greet all of her admirers. Petal is currently living with young kids and she loves the attention! She can be a little timid when approached, at first, but she’s still really happy to have the tummy and ear rubs. She also seeks out the neighborhood kids when she’s out on her walks. Because Petal was clearly bred to have a very low, wide stance, stairs are rough for her to traverse. It's possible, it can just be painful for her tiny body. We recommend Petal go to a forever home without many stairs, if possible. Given Petal's age and body shape, we also recommend she remain on a joint supplement in order to be happy and comfortable.
Petal is heartworm positive, and will be receiving treatments sponsored by ABR. She will also need a few bad teeth removed to make her more comfortable. She can be adopted now and undergo these treatments in the Austin area with one of our approved vets in the comfort of her forever home.
