Newman

Hi! My Name Is Newman

We're happy to tell you that Newman has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

We always say bulldogs are the funniest weirdos, and Newman gets 10's across the board in that category.  He's 70lbs of pure beefcake baby who hides from the rain but loves baths, hates peanut butter but will eat a whole bag of broccoli, and is absolutely insistent on being a lap dog, even if it means just his big blockhead fits in your lap.  Newman also loves his 'me time' in his crate, especially when it's covered with a blanket so we can really get some quality powernaps in.  We love a self-care king, and Newman makes sure to take plenty of time for himself when he needs some space.

We don't know a ton about Newman's past before he came to ABR, given that he was a stray.  But from what we've gathered, he doesn't seem to have been socialized much, nor did he get to enjoy all the simple pleasures a young bulldog should.  He's recently discovered squeaky toys, and BOY HOWDY, does he love them!  We love when his foster sends us slo-mo video of all of his jiggle and jowls flapping about as he gleefully shakes his latest stuffy.  But Newman isn't super sure about leash walking yet or riding in the car, so we would love for his forever family to continue to use plenty of vegetables to reward him during these experiences to help him create good associations to them.  Newman definitely doesn't know how big he is and can get a little jumpy when he wants attention or get excited.  And with kids that are noisy or bouncy, he can get scared and retreat to his crate.  So, for those reasons, we think families with kids 12yo and older would be best, or an adults only home.
