Mikey is a little guy who loves big. He is a friend to all humans and animals and is always eager to make a new friend. He's living in his foster home with a pack of dogs, and his favorites are the ones who will play with him and let him chew his tasty snacks next to them. And while Mikey definitely has 'little brother' energy, he's a soft-hearted, snuggly dude who isn't going to sink his puppy teeth into you the second you try to hug him. He's also super smart and has the most adorable head tilt whenever he's thinking really hard about something you're telling him.
Mikey came to ABR with an already diagnosed heart condition. After seeing a specialist and a cardiologist, it was determined that Mikey has two issues affecting his pulmonary functions. Surgery to resolve either issue would offer minimal benefit and have a high risk of killing him, due to the severity of his condition. So, while Mikey is technically hospice (meaning his condition will need to be managed longterm with medication and regular vet visits), he can still spend some time with a forever family who loves him and wants to give him the best life ever while he's still here. ABR is only adopting Mikey to approved adopters in Austin or surrounding areas so that we can still be nearby to offer support to his forever family, whenever needed.
Adopters will receive full medical records upon signing Mikey's adoption contract.
