Louie is such a special, resilient boy. He came to us having been through the worst and in unimaginable pain, but still is willing to love and trust. Louie is so grateful for any human affection that comes his way. He was even all tail wags and nuzzles with his vets, even though he felt horrible. With just basic proper care and nutrition, this guy has totally turned into a brand new dog! He is playful, curious, and determined to catch every squirrel that crosses his path. He absolutely loves meeting new people and making new friends, and would be perfect in a family who would like to take him out and about everywhere or have gatherings in their home. The more attention for Louie, the happier he is! Louie is feeling so good after coming to ABR, that he's starting to act like a puppy. We would never believe this guy is 8yo if you didn't tell us! He's working on calm, polite greetings and relaxed leash walking. We would recommend a home with older kids, if any, since his enthusiasm can easily knock a little one over. Louie will absolutely chase a cat, if given the chance (even one on tv), so we would not recommend a home with cats (indoor or outdoor).
Louie is feeling better and better every day, and we're stll assessing if he would be best in a home with or without other dogs, and if so, what kind of dog personality would be the best fit.
