Gordy

Hi! My Name Is Gordy

He is an English bulldog named Gordy. I adopted him over thanksgiving and was given incomplete information prior to us adopting him. We were told that he was a 3-year-old male with some hotspot on his back, an issue that my family is more that equipped to deal with. However, upon meeting him he had significantly more wrong with him than just a little hotspot. What we found upon meeting him is that he is covered in yeast, very overweight and that he is at least partially blind in his left eye due to a botched cherry eye surgery. We decided to take him so that, if possible, we could take care of him and if not, we could contact a rescue so that he could get proper help. We got him home and started treating the yeast issue. As we watched him walk it looks like his back right knee is kicking out as he shuffles. I say shuffles because he can just barely walk. He also has what looks like cysts in between his toes, and we are unsure of his age since he is missing most of his teeth. We have a home with two female dogs and while they usually readily welcome additional dogs to the family they were very reluctant with him. He also appeared to be highly over stimulated and would not take any time to sit and relax until we isolated him. I brought him with me to Port Arthur, Texas with me so that he could be in more of a single dog situation and he seems to of calmed down greatly. I honestly not sure that he wasn’t being used in a puppy mill in his younger days because all he wanted to do with my female dogs upon meeting them was to hump them. He is a sweet boy with a very calm personality when he is on his own, but he is a special needs dog that regrettably we won’t be able to integrate with my family. I’m currently taking care of him in Port Arthur where I’m working.
