Dogs like Fonzie are the reason we advocate to give shelter dogs a chance. He ended up in a high kill shelter in Houston with his sidekick Pinky, and was completely shut down during his time there. He sat in the back of his kennel, meekly wagging his tail and head bowed down. Even out of the kennel, he was wary of his surroundings and timid. Now that he is in his foster home, he is a totally different boy! He is snuggly and loving with his foster family and insists that 85lb bullies can be lap dogs too! He adores playing with his larger doggy foster siblings and has settled in well to following their lead, when it comes to learning all the best cozy spots to nap and how much fun squeaky toys can be. Fonzie is even learning to how to navigate stairs because he is the bravest boy. He's still a little unsure about water and baths, though. Fonzie has also really shown he enjoys going for walks, and is VERY enthusiastic about it. He's a super strong boy, and his adoption will come with our favorite harness for eager walkers to help keep him and his family safe as he learns how to relax when out and about. With that said, we think this guy would be awesome with older kids, if any, in his forever home, since he is so strong and someitmes forgets his own size but is very gentle and loving to all humans. He is a total clown and will constantly have you laughing your face off at his antics and wondering what's going on in that big, blockhead of his.
