Esme

Esme may be 2yo, but she still has the silly, bouncy, curious personality of a puppy!  She LOVES to play with toys and her doggy pals.  She especially enjoys being outside, whether it be just to sit and sniff the breeze or chase a toy out in the yard.  Esme loves all humans that she meets instantly and wants very much to be a lap dog.  She's still working on not nibbling on her human friends when she gets really excited, so we'd recommend kids 6+ that understand she is trying to communicate, not be bitey and scary.  Esme also really enjoys bathtime.  If you don't shut the bathroom door, she will absolutely climb in the bathtub or mosey on into the shower with you.  We especially appreciate this because Esme has all the deep folds of a typical English Bulldogs, and will require upkeep and regular baths to ensure those stay clean.  Esme also has typical bulldog allergy needs, in terms of maintaining a diet that avoids allergens, regular wipe downs, and ear clearnings.  

Esme can feel insecure, sometimes, about sharing her humans with other dogs.  This can be very common with rescue dogs, given that they did at one time, have a family before coming to ABR and may be afraid of losing someone they love again.  If she does go to a home with another dog friend, we recommend that it be one who doesn't mind sharing their people with another dog.  We also hope her forever family will begin right away to establish a good relationship between Esme and their dog, by utilizing the recommendations from her foster and from ABR that come with her adoption, in terms of how to properly introduce dogs to ensure everyone stays happy.
