Calvin

Hi! My Name Is Calvin

We're happy to tell you that Calvin has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.
Calvin is available for out of state adoption to approved adopters, as long as his potential family is able to come meet him in person and take him home safely.  In fact, we think Calvin would love a road trip!  Sorry, we cannot "ship" dogs.

Within a few days of landing in his ABR foster home from an overcrowded shelter, 11-year-old Calvin's tiny, bouncy ears perked up, and the sparkle in his eye returned.  A concrete kennel is no place for a gentle, senior guy who thrives in the company of humans and other dogs.  Calvin has transformed from a depressed and sad boy to a dog who is spry, eager to go on walks around the block, and loves having a doggy foster sister to pal around with.  In fact, since Calvin is mostly deaf (due to a severe untreated ear infection), we think he would do best in a forever home with at least one other calm dog who can help him learn the household routine and show him all the best napping spots.  And speaking of naps, his favorite places to snooze are the couch or anywhere the sun is shining, so we hope that Calvin's will allow him to snuggle up with them on the furniture.  Calvin is also currently living with a cat friend and young kids as well.  His gentle and calm nature makes him a wonderful fit for just about any family!  When Calvin isn't napping, he loves to swim, chase rabbits around the backyard, and go with his foster family to the kids' soccer and baseball games to cheer them on.  Calvin really does have the best qualities of senior dogs -- he's easygoing, loyal, happy as long as his humans are, and loves to make new friends.  He's calm for grooming and baths, and requires the same basic care any senior dog needs to stay healthy and happy.  Calvin recently had a few malignant masses removed from his skin that were caused by too much sun exposure from living outside in a prior life, and now he's healthier than ever!  Calvin's forever family should make sure his skin is protected when outside and that he spends minimal time sunbathing outside to make sure those masses don't return n.
Calvins perfect home: At least one calm, relaxed dog, maybe a kitty friend and he would love a calm child or two to provide extra love and pats!
