Bert

Hi! My Name Is Bert

We're happy to tell you that Bert has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Bert is incredibly loyal and loves his humans hard.  He does everything with the most enthusiasm and joy, and prefers to be right by his favorite people as much as possible.  The second he meets a new friend, he wants to jump in your lap and give you all the kisses and love nibbles.  Because Bert gets so amped to see people, we’d recommend older kids for his forever family, if any.  He could easily knock over a small child trying to get some love from them!   Bert will need to go to a home with its own yard and no stairs.  He has some nerve damage that causes one of his back legs to drag, sometimes, but per his vet assessment, he is not in any pain and it is not an issue that can be fixed with surgery.  And honestly, we don't think Bert notices it at all!! His forever family should be mindful, though, that he may need help getting around or to be on medication to manage some pain as he gets older.  But the best thing about this guy, is he doesn’t let anything get him down!  He’s always in the best mood and makes ever day better!  Before his life at ABR, Bert was very skinny and emaciated when he was found.  We think he may not have always had access to food and resources or had to compete with other dogs.  He's wonderful around other dogs when out and about, but in the home, if food is anywhere in the mix, he feels scared that he will go hungry.  We hope his forever family is willing to be understanding of this and give Bert a safe home where he never has to worry about having everything he needs and then some!
