Kalani is what I like to call a cat dog hybrid. She’s very self sufficient and can very easily entertain herself when left to her own devices. In the occasion that she does come to you though, it makes your heart swell. She’s so sweet and really loves her people. Up until recently I didn’t even realize how much she actually loves me. She waits by the door and cries if one person comes home and not the other but as soon as you come in, the show is over and back to her bed she goes. She loves food! Her name should have been Glutton. The girl can eat and you can bribe her do almost anything so long as a treat is involved. She doesn’t love bath time but she is tolerant and will enjoy the scratching and WARM water. She’s a curious dog and loves to follow her nose around the neighborhood. Her only downfall is that she will chew sticks, grass, and anything that she finds on the ground if you aren’t paying attention. She gets short bursts of energy (the zoomies) and will hop around like a bunny when it’s time to play! No need to stress though, she is not the fetching type. You have exactly one time to throw the toy and she’ll get it, plop down, and commence to chewing away. Overall, she’s a great dog and prior to this unforeseen health incident I was planning to rehome her to a close friend that she would’ve been perfect for. This friend is just barely getting on her feet financially, can’t afford to pay for her issues, and tragically lost her dog in house fire some years ago. I couldn’t in good faith hand Kalani over to her knowing that there’s medical treatment that Kalani needs to thrive. Kalani is also a major couch potato. She would love an owner that would allow her to be on the sofa with them (we don’t allow this here) and spend time snoozing or watching TV. I do think that Kalani would enjoy apartment living and having her owner or owners to herself although she can be strategically placed with another dog.
