Hyacinth

Hi! My Name Is Hyacinth

I'm Available

Hyacinth is the funniest mini hippo with the most loving and sweet personality.  Hy is one of our few dogs who is baby and toddler approved due to her gentle nature.  She's actually currently living with a very small baby, and foster mom loves how eager she is to be around her little friend but still maintains safe boundaries.  The best parts of Hy's day are when the baby wakes up from a nap and snuggling up on the couch with foster mom at the end of the day.  Hyacinth is totally convinced she's a lap dog, too.  She lives for cuddles and snuggles and booty pats and head scratches, and everything in between!  She was a major volunteer favorite at the shelter we pulled her from, and we have to say, we agree with the sentiment.

Hyacinth was actually part of a cruelty case, which is what led her to ABR.  She was a frequently flyer at her local shelter, given she was always out stray.  And each time she came back, she had less fur and was in worse and worse shape.  The city was finally able to take action and keep Hy from returning to that awful situation.  And it's really only taken proper care, antibiotics, and regular baths to bring her beautiful shiny coat back.  Hyacinth is not currently living with another dog in her foster home, but had the best time playing with others at the shelter.  We think she could be happy with another dog companion in her foster home, as long as her family takes the time to slowly integrate the two vs throwing them together immediately.  It's so important to remember that she was a stray for a long time, so she likely ran into a few unfriendly dogs out in the streets and needs some time to feel safe.
