Kira

Kira has come out of her shell since coming into rescue a couple of months ago.  Even though she is blind she still a spunky little Frenchie! She enjoys walks in a stroller, playing with toys, and cuddling on the couch. Once in a while Kira and her foster brother will play together, and she can give him a run for his money!  Kira is still exploring the world and will take some time to warm up in any new environment. So, a calm home with not a lot of change is key.  Plus, her adoption will come with her halo harness that helps keep her from bumping into things as she learns a new environment.  Kira does well with friendly calm small dogs and she is also cat friendly. She would also be fine as an only dog. She is a petite little girl weighing in at 21lbs, and she loves to be held.  Kira came from a place where she was kept outside or in a small cage with a litter box all day.  She is still working on potty training, so we think she would do best in a home with a yard, since she is doing well with learning a routine.  We think kids who are about teenage or older would be best for her, although she is friendly. 

Kira came in as a breeder release with reports she went blind suddenly. Our team immediately took her to the vet to be checked out and she was referred to a neurologist. Through the MRI and several other tests it was determined that Kira has an autoimmune disorder that is causing encephalitis (inflammation of the brain).  Kira will continue to be on Prednisone long-term to help reduce the inflammation in her brain, but she can still run and play like every other dog!  As far as Kira is concerned, she's no different than her Frenchie foster brother!
