Achilles 🚗

Hi! My Name Is Achilles 🚗

We're happy to tell you that Achilles 🚗 has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Achilles has been through a lot in his 7mo, and learning how to be the bravest boy in a big world.  He’s been through a few homes that didn’t work out and spend some time living as a stray, which made him very shy and nervous about new experiences when he first arrived.  But, with another confident dog friend and a patient foster family, he has blossomed!  He loves wrestling with his bigger foster brother and heads to his cozy crate to nap when he’s ready for a break.  He loves to toss around squeaky toys and play tug with his dog foster brother too.  We would love to see Achilles go to a home with his very own yard, since he’s still unsure about leash walking in some situations.  We hope his forever family will slowly introduce him to new experiences, at his pace, to help expand his world.  And Achilles absolutely needs at least one other confident dog playmate in his home to show him the ropes.  Achilles can go home with kids 6yo+, as well, provided they understand that loud sounds and fast movements may make him nervous and that he LOVES kisses!  He also is great with cats, provided those cats don't mind him trying to play with them.   And Achilles is a star at dog parks and playgroups and is everyone's favorite playmate when he gets to go!

Achilles is available for adoption to qualified adopters in the contiguous 48 states.  ABR would prefer approved applicants to come to TX to meet their match, with their family and dog(s), but we recognized this isn’t always possible.  In such cases, approved adopters should be willing to participate in video interviews with the entire family to meet their match virtually. Adopters must also provide a transportation plan for their new family member that will require approval from the ABR Board.   This needs to be paid for by the adopter, in addition to the dog’s adoption fee.  Adopters need to also be prepared arrange safe transport back to the Austin area, should adoption not work out.  Please be prepared to provide vet and personal references in your application for us to contact when considering your family.
