When senior Popeye joined us, he was broken, disheartened and afraid. Under his previous ownership, Pops had spent the entirety of his 10 years living outside in the Texas heat, forced to lay in filth. It was immediately apparent that this sweet boy had a host of medical problems in addition to lacking experience with loving human interaction. Pops landed himself a loving foster home where is experiencing the joy of lounging indoors on his choice of many fluffy beds and snacking on treats with his fur foster brother. He moves around with the most endearing old man grunts, like a grizzled sea captain who's been through it all and then some. He's also enjoying affection and pets for what seems like the first time in his 10 years, politely nuzzling foster mom's head to ask for more now that he knows he'll never be harmed again. Despite appearances, his only major health challenge is an awful ear infection, which we’re working on. He's a simple guy who just needs a furever family that can give him some soft spots to nap in (and maybe a few backups while he learns that bed are not a toy!), regular baths, and ample neck scratches every now and then.
